The College has a long history in training student teachers. Three genres are offered - Imperial Classical Ballet, Modern & Tap at DDI (Diploma in Dance Instruction) Level 3 and DDE (Diploma in Dance Education) Level 4.
Students entering College will commence their training at their own personal level and move forwards immediately.

UNITS:

Year One
Foundation in each genre preparing for DDI qualification. Achievement of Intermediate as a minimum level of vocational qualification.

Year Two
DDI qualifications spaced at intervals through the academic year. Students may take one, two or three genres depending on their own abilities and personal aims.

Year Three
Completion of DDI units where necessary. DDE qualifications in one, two or three genres. The nature of the DDE qualification often necessitates completion after the student has graduated and left College. All practical units are covered by the end of the Year Three and students are assured of full back up to complete their final units.

Head of Teacher Training - Vivienne Saxton MA Dip RBS (TTC) ARAD Adv Chairman of the ISTD Imperial Classical Ballet Branch Committee ISTD Examiner and Lecturer.
Vivienne has been head of Teacher Training at The Margaret Howard Theatre College for many years and her professionalism, knowledge and artistry has been fundamental in the shaping of the Teacher Training Faculty.

Classical Ballet is just one of the many subjects offered but its importance in the curriculum and high standard indicates the vital role that Classical Ballet plays in the training of the young teacher and performer.

Students are encouraged and achieve the highest level in each genre working towards and Advanced Two qualification over three years.
